Where the ad data comes from
How PixelSpyer collects ads from the public Meta Ad Library, how often the data changes and why some ads have no preview.
Last updated Oct 27, 2026
Every ad in PixelSpyer is a real ad that ran on Meta's platforms. This article explains where the data comes from and what to expect from it.
The source: the Meta Ad Library
Meta publishes ads in its public Ad Library. PixelSpyer collects ads from that public library and organises them so you can search, filter, sort and save them in one place. PixelSpyer is an independent tool and is not affiliated with Meta.
The library holds more than 3.1 million ads from about 13,000 advertiser brands. Most of these ads were delivered in the EU and UK. See Why most ads are from the EU and UK for the reason.
What each ad includes
Depending on what Meta publishes for an ad, you can see:
- The creative (image, video or carousel) and the ad copy
- The headline, call to action and landing page link
- The advertiser and the platforms the ad ran on
- The launch date, days running and active status
- The countries it reached, and an EU reach estimate when one is available
Each ad also links to its entry in the Meta Ad Library, so you can check the original.
How fresh the data is
The library is a snapshot that is refreshed periodically. It is not a real-time feed, so a brand-new ad may not appear straight away, and details such as active status reflect the most recent refresh. For the very latest details on a specific ad, use its link to the Meta Ad Library.
Why some ads have no preview
Images and videos are fetched on demand when you view an ad. Some older ads may no longer have media available, so they appear without a preview. The text, dates and other details are still shown.
If you only want ads you can see, turn on the "only ads with a preview" filter in Discover.
Ads you would like removed
If you are an advertiser and want an ad hidden from PixelSpyer, you can send a data removal request through /contact.
