Landing page
The web page a visitor arrives on after clicking an ad, designed to turn that click into a sale, sign-up or other conversion.
A landing page is the page someone reaches after clicking an ad or link. In paid social for ecommerce, it might be a product page, a collection page, a home page or a page built specifically for one campaign. Its job is to continue the story the ad started and make the next step easy.
Types of landing pages
- Product detail page: the standard store page for a single product.
- Collection page: useful when the ad shows a range rather than one item.
- Advertorial or listicle: an article-style page that educates before sending people to the product.
- Dedicated sales page: a long-form page focused on one product, offer or ad angle.
What makes a page convert
- Message match: the headline and imagery should reflect what the ad promised.
- A clear unique selling proposition visible without scrolling.
- Social proof such as reviews and customer photos.
- Answers to objections: delivery times, returns, sizing and ingredients.
- A single, obvious call to action.
- Speed and mobile usability, since most paid social traffic arrives on phones.
Why it matters
You pay for every click whether or not the visitor buys. At the same CPC, a page that converts at 3% instead of 1.5% halves your ad cost per purchase. That makes landing page improvements one of the most direct ways to lower CPA.
In practice
Use UTM parameters to see which ads send traffic to which page, and run A/B tests on headlines, layout and offer presentation.
