Advantage+

Advantage+ is the name Meta uses for a group of automated campaign features that rely on its machine learning to make decisions advertisers used to make manually. Instead of choosing every audience, placement and creative variation by hand, advertisers give the system broader inputs and let it optimise delivery.

What it covers

Meta's lineup changes regularly, but at the time of writing the Advantage+ name has been applied to features such as:

• Advantage+ campaigns for goals such as sales, app installs and leads, with automation applied across targeting, placements and budget. The sales version was previously known as Advantage+ shopping campaigns.
• Advantage+ audience, which treats any audience you provide as a suggestion and can expand beyond it.
• Advantage+ placements, formerly automatic placements, which spreads delivery across eligible surfaces on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Audience Network.
• Advantage+ creative, which can apply enhancements such as cropping, brightness adjustments or text variations.
• Advantage+ catalog ads, formerly dynamic product ads.

Why it matters

Automation has shifted the media buyer's role. With less manual targeting, the main levers become creative, offer, budget, conversion data quality and the bid strategy. This is one reason broad targeting and creative volume get so much attention.

• Feed the system clean conversion data through the Meta Pixel and Conversions API.
• Review automatic creative enhancements so ads stay on brand.
• Use existing-customer settings where available if you want to focus spend on new customers.
