33% recovery. Two sessions still on the schedule. This is the call I made. Three weeks of accumulated load. Irregular travel. Broken sleep. His body had been sending signals for days — we were reading every one of them. Most coaches see a red recovery score and do one of two things. Push through because it’s just a number. Or shut everything down and call it a rest day. Both are wrong. The session didn’t get cancelled. It got restructured. Morning session capped at a strain of 8; skills only, nothing CNS-heavy. Afternoon cut to 45 minutes. Sleep window extended by 90 minutes. Nutrition adjusted around what the travel had actually done to his system. Five days later he was back at 91%. That bounce doesn’t happen if we guess. It happens because the data told us exactly what his body needed, and we made the right call with it. This is why I track every athlete I work with every single morning. Not to collect numbers. To make better decisions than the schedule would make on its own. DM me PERFORMANCE: this is what having a real system looks like.
