6x The Garlic Dose? Why Your High-Street Capsules Do Nothing.
I've been the "healthy one" in my family my whole life. Multivitamin since the army. Cod liver oil from the chemist since I was forty. Aged garlic capsules every morning since 2011 because my GP at the time told me they'd be "good for the heart." Then last October at sixty-nine I sat in a cardiovascular clinic with a reading of 172 over 98 and the registrar told me my abdominal aorta was showing "significant atherosclerosis." Twelve years of garlic capsules. Twelve years. What nobody told me — what I had to find out for myself, reading clinical trial abstracts at the kitchen table at half eleven at night — is that the trials showing real cardiovascular benefit from aged garlic used roughly 1,200mg of standardised active material a day. The capsule I'd been buying at the chemist? 200mg. Often less, once you read the small print. I'd been doing my "due diligence" for over a decade and getting nowhere because the dose was wrong. My old man died at 73 of a heart attack. He "ate well," too. Lot of good it did him. I refused the statin after I read the side-effect list — muscle wasting, the brain fog, the lot. I dug deeper. I found a meta-analysis from a respected cardiovascular nutrition journal showing therapeutic-dose aged garlic reducing plaque volume on ultrasound. Hawthorn berry that consultants in Germany and the Netherlands actually use in clinical practice. Olive leaf that beat an ACE inhibitor head-to-head in a Spanish trial in 2011. The ingredients were right. The dose was wrong. That was the whole story. Three months in: new ultrasound at the same clinic. The narrowing had reduced. The registrar looked at the report twice. "What have you been doing?" he said. I told him I'd stopped buying rubbish and started taking the actual proper dose. If you've been taking supplements with nothing to show for it — the problem isn't you. It's the dose. Read what I worked out here: https://www.sunvanna.com/UK/cardiovascular
