Behind one of the most defining moments of the Civil Rights Movement was a leader whose story is often unheard: Bayard Rustin. A trusted adviser to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the principal organizer of the 1963 March on Washington, Rustin helped bring together hundreds of thousands of people in a powerful call for jobs, freedom and equality. Throughout his life, he championed nonviolent activism while also navigating discrimination as an openly gay man, which often kept his contributions out of the spotlight. 🏳️🌈 ❤️ As Pride Month comes to a close, we honor Bayard Rustin’s vision for a more just, inclusive society — one where equality is built for everyone, without exception.
