The video had been playing for fourteen seconds before I realized what I was watching. My husband's hand was on my thigh, warm and familiar, sliding upward with that lazy confidence he'd perfected over four years of marriage. But I couldn't look away from the television screen. Couldn't process what my eyes were seeing. That woman—Candace, Candy—was absolutely stunning. Long legs, perfect breasts, that kind of California-girl beauty that made you feel plain just looking at her. And she was on her hands and knees on a plush rug while a massive Great Dane mounted her from behind. "No," I whispered, but the word came out wrong. It came out like a question. Clint's fingers brushed against the lace of my crotchless panties. I should have pushed him away. Should have demanded he turn it off. Should have asked where the hell this video came from and why he'd hidden it from me for years. Instead, I watched Candy's head fall back. Watched her mouth open in a soundless scream. Watched her body shudder with what looked unmistakably like an orgasm. "That's..." I couldn't finish the sentence. "That's Candy," Clint said softly. "Our old neighbor. I found this when I was fourteen." Fourteen. I should have been horrified. Should have felt disgust. But my body was betraying me. My nipples had hardened against the silk of my nightgown, and between my legs, I could feel the heat of my own arousal. What the hell was wrong with me? On screen, Candy was being knotted. I knew enough about dogs to understand what I was seeing, and Candy was still moaning, still moving, still coming undone beneath that massive animal. "This is what got me hooked," Clint whispered, and his voice was thick with want. "Watching her. Imagining someone else in her place." He didn't say my name. He didn't have to. The video ended. The television defaulted back to the browsing screen, and another clip began to auto-play. A blonde woman I didn't recognize, also beautiful, also on her knees. Also taking a dog. Clint's finger slipped inside me, and I gasped. "Tell me to stop," he said. "Tell me this is too much." I should have said it. Should have pushed his hand away. Should have gotten up and walked out of the bedroom and never spoken of this again. But I didn't. "Where did you get this?" I asked instead, my voice barely above a whisper. "From their trash. They moved away, left boxes on the curb. I was a curious kid." "You kept it." "I transferred it to a USB drive when DVDs became obsolete." He was still touching me. Still moving his finger in slow, deliberate circles. And I was still watching the woman on screen, watching the way her body accepted, watching the way she arched into each thrust. "Does this turn you on?" I asked. "Yes." The honesty caught me off guard. I twisted to look at him, and I saw the vulnerability in his eyes. The fear. He thought I was going to reject him. "Show me more," I heard myself say. Chapter 2 I don't know what I expected when I said those words. Maybe more videos. Maybe stories. Maybe a conversation about fantasy versus reality. Not Bandit. Bandit was our Cane Corso, a hundred and ten pounds of muscle and loyalty and terrible breath. He was lying at the foot of our bed, his head on his paws, watching us with those intelligent dark eyes. "You want to... with him?" I asked, and my voice cracked on the last word. "Not all the way," Clint said quickly. "Just to see. What he does. How he reacts." "How he reacts to what?" Clint didn't answer. He just kept looking at me with that hungry, hopeful expression. I should have said no. I knew I should have said no. But I thought about the video. Thought about Candy's face as she came undone. Thought about the way her body had accepted something so forbidden and found pleasure in it. "Fine," I heard myself say. "We can try. Just... just seeing what he does." Bandit perked up at the sound of my voice, his tail thumping against the mattress. He was always excited to be on the bed, a privilege usually reserved for special occasions. I lay back against the pillows, my heart pounding so hard I could feel it in my throat. Clint positioned himself beside me, one hand on my hip, guiding me. "Spread your legs," he said softly. I did. Bandit's nose twitched. He could smell my arousal—I could see it in the way his ears perked forward, the way his whole body tensed. Slowly, he crawled up the bed, his massive head lowering between my thighs. This is wrong, I thought. This is so wrong. But I didn't stop him. His tongue was hot and rough against me, and I flinched at the unfamiliar sensation. But I didn't close my legs. Didn't push him away. "It's okay," Clint whispered. "Just let him explore." His tongue moved higher. Cautious at first, then bolder. When he finally made contact with my clllit, I gasped. "Oh my God." His tongue was unlike anything I'd ever felt. Longer than a human tongue, rougher, more insistent. He licked me in long, sweeping strokes that seemed to reach places inside me I didn't know existed. "How does it feel?" Clint asked. "Different," I breathed. "So different." But I didn't say stop. I didn't pull away. Bandit seemed to sense my hesitation and my interest. He pressed closer, his snout nudging against my folds, his tongue penetrating deeper. I moaned, my hips lifting off the bed. "Oh, fuck." Clint's hand found mine, squeezing tight. "Is this okay?" I couldn't answer. Could only nod, my eyes squeezed shut, my body consumed by sensations I'd never experienced before. Bandit's tongue curled inside me, and I saw stars. Click to continue reading👉👉

On our third anniversary, I activated my plan to fake my own death. At dinner, he told his men in Italian: "She's so obedient, she won't cause trouble." He never knew I understood every single word. As the mafia don's "trophy wife," I had long discovered his mistress and the high heel she deliberately left in my home. I refused to endure it any longer. Ten days from now, only the gun he custom-made for me and a pool of blood will remain on the seaside cliff. Don, those ninety-nine times you said you loved me—I don't want them anymore. …… I was standing in the corridor outside the private dining room when I dialed the number. "Project Ash. Initiate now." The male voice on the other end was calm and steady. "Received. The faked-death protocol is ready to go. In ten days, you'll vanish from everyone's world." I ended the call, pried out the SIM card, and dropped it into the wastebasket beside the wall. From inside the room came a roar of laughter—familiar enough to turn my stomach. That was Dante Moretti. My husband. The godfather of the most powerful mafia family on the East Coast, surrounded by his loyal and oblivious men. Tonight was our third wedding anniversary. He had rented out the entire restaurant. The most expensive champagne. The most dishonest smiles. A performance called love, staged entirely for my benefit. I pushed open the door and walked in, wearing the same smile I always wore. "Finished your call?" Dante sat at the head of the long table and reached out to me. I crossed the room and placed my hand in his. He pulled me into his lap in one smooth motion, one arm circling my waist—tender and practiced, the kind of gesture that now made me want to be sick. "All done. The cleaning service confirmed they'll send someone to the apartment tomorrow." Dante nodded and turned back to his underboss, resuming a conversation in Italian. Fast, clipped, thick with a Sicilian accent—the private language of his bloodline, and the wall they'd always used to keep me out. I smiled along and took a sip of wine. I had taught myself Italian over the past three years. Dante didn't know that. He thought I only spoke English. His men thought so too. "So Scarlett's back in New York tomorrow?" That was Dante's cousin, Luca—second in command. Another man, Cesare, grinned. "Already here. Dante's headed over tonight." "Can't blame the boss. Keeps a respectable one at home, keeps an exciting one on the side." "Keep it down—his wife's right there." Cesare turned to me, switching to English, his eyes testing the water. "Vivian, good wine?" I smiled and nodded, my gaze perfectly clear. "Very good." They exchanged a look and cut back to Italian. She can't understand a word. Relax. Dante, you're really not going to tell her? What if she finds out— Dante finally spoke, his tone easy and indifferent: What is there to find out? She's mine. She'll always be mine. I need her where she needs to be, doing what she's supposed to do. The rest of it has nothing to do with her. I felt his hand give my waist a light, absentminded pat—the way you'd soothe a pet. Besides, he continued in Italian, she's so well-behaved. She won't make trouble. Low laughter rippled around the table. I looked down at the dark red liquid in my glass. Three years of marriage, and they had always looked at me that way. Pity threaded through contempt. I was the godfather's wife and had no real power. I was his companion and nothing more than a prop. What they didn't know was that the most dangerous hunter is the one who looks the most harmless. I set my glass down and stood up from Dante's lap. "Tired?" He looked up at me. "Mm. I'll head home." "I'll have someone drive you." "No need. I'll call a car." I picked up my bag and walked toward the door. As I pulled it open, I heard someone say one last thing in Italian behind me: Don't worry. She doesn't know a thing. I let the door close behind me. I knew everything. I knew who Scarlett was. I knew that woman had been living in the apartment Dante bought her for the past month. I knew the entire family had been laughing behind my back, calling me a fool who couldn't see what was in front of her. But I wouldn't cry. I wouldn't rage. I wouldn't ask him a single question. Ten days from now, they would all believe I was dead. And Dante Moretti would spend the rest of his life remembering every word he said tonight.

My Malinois nearly snatched a Shih Tzu off a coffee-shop patio. If your dog is "too smart to behave," read every word. Everybody told me a Malinois was too much dog for a guy who just wanted a buddy to bring around town. I didn't listen, and honestly Rex proved them wrong at home — he picked up commands faster than any dog I've ever met. Sit, place, heel, the works, all by six months. I thought I'd hit the jackpot. What I'd actually done was teach a rocket every command except how to sit still while the fuse was lit. The patio at Grounds on 5th is my Saturday spot. A few weeks back I had Rex in a "place" next to my chair, feeling pretty proud of us, when a woman came around the corner carrying a Shih Tzu like a football. Rex came off that place like the floor was electric. He hit the leash so hard my chair tipped, my iced coffee hit the bricks, and he got within a couple feet of that little dog before I hauled him back. The whole patio went silent. The woman just clutched her dog and walked away fast. A regular at the next table — older guy, drinks black coffee, never says much — leaned over and said, "He's not bad. He just doesn't have a single reason to pick you over that." I sat with that the whole drive home. He was right. I'd built a dog who could perform anything I asked in a calm room and nothing at all when it counted, because I'd never built the part that comes first: the check-in. The half-second where the dog looks to me before he decides what to do. That night I found a long thread of working-dog owners, and one line stuck: "Your Mal isn't disobeying. He's running his own program because you never installed yours underneath. Foundation before flash." Two guys in that thread pointed to the Service-Dog-Level Challenge — built on the actual foundation service dogs run on, impulse control and focus, the owner doing it himself, 7 minutes a day. No e-collar, which I'd already refused to use. 1-minute quiz that night. Started the Challenge the next morning before work. First week: stupidly simple stuff. He waits at the door. He holds eye contact before I release him to his ball. A beat of stillness before anything good happens. For a Malinois used to going 100, those pauses were the hardest thing I'd ever asked him to do — and the most important. Second week, he started offering check-ins on his own. On a walk he'd just flick his eyes to me, like asking permission. Third week, a little dog yapped at us through a fence and Rex glanced at it, then turned to me and held. I stood there on the sidewalk laughing like an idiot. This past Saturday, same patio. A small dog walked right past us and Rex stayed in his place, watching me instead. The black-coffee guy raised his cup an inch and said, "Now that's a service dog." I told him the truth: nope, just a lot of seven-minute mornings. He didn't become a calmer dog. He became my partner, because the foundation finally caught up to how smart he already was. If your dog is brilliant and impossible at the same time — take the 1-minute quiz. It builds the Service-Dog-Level Challenge around your dog and the exact thing that sets him off. He's not too much. He's just waiting on the foundation.
