i stayed stuck in the “skinny fat” phase for so long thinking i just needed to eat less 🥲 what actually made the biggest difference was shifting my focus from restriction → to building, supporting, and properly nourishing my body! as a south asian girl, i feel like we’re often taught to shrink ourselves, eat less, and just push through… even when it’s not actually working for our bodies if you’ve felt this way too, i hope this gives you a different perspective and helps you feel a little less confused about your body 💗

None of them quite get it
This is the floor by my side of the bed most nights. The tennis ball. The foam roller. The gun with six attachments I have used twice. A heating pad with the cord in a knot. A TENS unit I gave up wetting my neck for. None of them quite get it. There is one spot between my neck and shoulder I can find with my eyes closed. Every one of these things reaches it for about ten minutes. Feels great. By the next morning the knot is back in the exact same place, like I did nothing. So I bought the next thing. The drawer filled up. And somewhere in there I decided the problem was me. Too tense. Too far gone. Too bad at keeping a routine. It was none of that. Every tool on that floor does the same one job. It presses the knot from the outside. The muscle underneath stays cold and braced, and a cold muscle does not let go. They only work while you are actively using them. The second you stop, it tightens straight back. That is the step all of them skip. Warm the muscle first so it stops guarding. Then the massage actually sinks in and works the knot loose instead of bouncing off the top. I stopped fighting it with my hands. Now I wrap something on, sit back, and the warmth and the kneading do the work while I do nothing. Here is what finally worked for me: https://www.calirovo.com/pages/neckrestore-knot

You wonder why your lower back hurts... But your program never trained your thoracic spine the way it was designed to move. Strength training is the foundation for long-term health. Your program should build muscle. It should make you stronger. But on its own, it’s not enough. If all you do is lift in straight lines and treat mobility as something separate, only after your hips, shoulders, or lower back start hurting, you’re missing how the body actually works. The thoracic spine isn’t just there to stay “stable.” It’s built to rotate, extend, flex, and side bend. When the thoracic spine is stiff, the body still needs to create movement somewhere. That “somewhere” is often the lumbar spine - your lower back. Add lifting or repetitive training on top of this, and you may reinforce the compensation instead of addressing the driver. That’s why the cycle looks familiar: Train hard → Get tight → Feel pain → Do rehab → Repeat Every few months Not because strength training is the problem, but because your program is incomplete. Strength should be the foundation. But thoracic mobility in all planes should be built into your program, not added later in rehab. #thoracicmobility #lowerbackpain #strengthtraining
